It takes devotion to teach kids facing deportation. It takes determination to teach kids arriving from a war zone.

At first glance De Verrekijker looks like a normal Dutch primary school. However, the little boys and girls are all children of rejected asylum seekers. Headmaster Toon and the teachers do all they can to give them the best education. Yet each morning they worry if any pupil has been forced to leave the country. After a series of deportations it becomes increasingly difficult to provide the children with a safe haven. The situation escalates when a group of Syrian boys fleeing war arrive at the school.

In a hidden place in Southern Spain, between the sea and the large extensions of dunes, a few men live in cabins where they take refuge from their problems and are not confined by the restrictions of time. They dedicate their lives to fishing, contemplation of the sea and alcohol.

A small group of filmmakers prowls the environment continuing in the footsteps of a German archaeologist who had excavated in these very dunes a hundred years ago, convinced that he would find the remainders of a lost city.
